An incorrect sign on an Ulster Circle Daniel Cambridge VC (103) was a member of the Yeoman Guard, not the Yeoman Warders, on joining he was an ex Master Gunner in the Royal Artillery, Born 1820 in Carraick Fergus, Co Antrim, and enlisted into the Royal Artillery on the 21 June 1839 at Lisburn Ireland, and served  31 years to 1871
He won the Victoria Cross, on the 8 September 1855, as Sebastopol as a bombardier. He was also awarded the Sardinian War Medal

On return from service in the Crimea he was appointed the Master Gunner of Tarbet Fort, Scotland.  He was appointed as a member of the Yeoman Guard in 1871 on discharge from the Army.

In 1881 he was living with his wife Annie aged 48, and four daughters all born in Ireland, in 2 Russell Place, Woolwich

Daniel Cambridge died 4 June 1882 in London SE18, and is buried in St Nicholas Churchyard, Plumstead.

He was replaced as member of the Yeoman Guard by Troop Sergeant Major Eccles 13th Hussars.

The Yeoman Guard are similar to the Yeoman Warder in that they appoint from the Army, the Yeoman Warders No1 was John May and the Yeoman Guard No. was Thomas Baker, ex Coldstream Guards.

Daniel was a member of the Yeoman Guard not a Yeoman Warder.
