Yeoman Warder in 11th November 1868 to 9th December 1899

He replaced Yeoman Warder Michael Taylor, and on his death he was replaced by William Archer.

Originally enlisted at Windsor on the 27th October 1846, and proceeded to Chertsey.  However, the following morning (28th October 1846) enlisted again as he had moved to another County.

29th October 1846 he was sworn in by Mr. Locke King at Weybridge, and in the afternoon he then proceeded to London.

Joined the depot at Chatham on the 5th November 1846.

Embarked at Gravesend on the 28th August 1847 on the ship Hindostan (Capt West)and arrived at Bombay on the 4thJanuary 1848

Then Embarked on the H.E.I. Company Ship Atalanta on the 13th January for Kurrachee, and joined the Headquarters there on the 13th January

He marched from Kurrachee on the 6th October and arrived at Mooltan on the 22nd December 1848, serving during the siege

He then Marched from Mooltan on the 2nd February 1849 and joined Lord Gough’s camp near Goojerat on the 19th and was present at the battle of Goojerat on the 21st

marched in pursuit and was at the surrender of the Sikh army at Rawal Pindec

He arrived at Jumroed in front of the Khyber Pass shortly after the Afghan Cavalry and passed into the Khyber Pass on the 22nd February 1850.

Was quartered in or near Pashawur until the 22nd March 1850 when he marched for Kussowlie in the Himalayan Mountains where he arrived on the 6th April and proceeded to Subathoo on detachment.

He then re-joined the Headquarter (HQ) at Kussowlie on the 4th March 1851,

Then Marched on the 18th November 1851 back to Jullunder arriving on the 29th December 1851

He march out of Jullunder on the 17th December 1854 and arrived at Umballuh to join the Camp Exercise on the 29th December

Leaving Umballuh on the 13th March 1855, and reached Jullunder on the 13th

On the 1st December 1855, Marched to Meerut arriving on the 29th December 1855.

Moved from Meerut on the 28th August 1857 and arrived Delhi on 5th December 1857, and stayed until the end of the Siege.

1st February 1858 loved from the Palace of Delhi arriving at Meerut 3rd February

Marched again on the 5th March with a force commanded by General Penny and moved to Khasgunge

Marched again on the 21st March, arriving at Roorkee on the 5th April

Marched again on the 14th April and was at “the action of Bagawalla on the 17th

Then at the Battle of Nugecna on the 21st and the relief of Morsdabad on the 25th April 1858

The Action Dujura on the 5th May

The Assault and capture of Barielly on the 6th

The Assault and bombardment of Shahjehanpore on the 11th defeat of rebels and the relief of the Garrison

Capture of the Fort of Bunnai on the 24th

Pursuit of the enemy to the left bank of the Goomtee and destruction of the fort of Mahomdee on the 26th

Returned to Shahjehanpore on the 28th May 1858

Marched on the 18th October and was at the action of Pusgaon on the 19th

Then at the Battle Risselpore on the 25th

The Attack and capture of the Fort of Mittowlie on the 8th November

The Action at Biswah on the 1st December and the pursuit of the rebels until the end of March 1859

He arrives at Cawnpore and preceded to Benares on the 5th April

Left Benares on the 26th and then arrived at Calcutta on the 30th September 1859

Embarked to England on the 17th March 1860 on the ship Aliquis (Capt Scowcroft) and disembarked at Gravesend, proceeding to Dover on the 6th August 1860

On the 6th August 1861 moved from Dover to Aldershot Camp

Left Aldershot on the 8th January 1863 and moved to Woolwich on detachment

He re-joins the HQ at the Tower of London on the 30th May

On the 6th June 1864 he leaves the tower of London to Portsmouth and embarked on board the Frigate Aurora (Capt Sir L. McClintock) and arrived at Kingstown Ireland on the 9th and proceeded to the camp at Curragh of Kildare the same day.

Marched to from Kildare to Dublin in September 1864

Then returned to Curragh in May or June 1865

Moved to Newry in the July

Moved from Newry on the 29th December and moved back to Dublin

Left Dublin 7th March 1866 and embarked at Kingstown on HM Ship Simoan (Capt Lethbridge) arriving at Malta 16thMarch, embarking the following day on HM Ship Himalaya (Capt SB Peirs) on the 5th September and arrived in Montreal 14 October 1867.

Left Montreal 22nd May 1868 and embarked on board (at Quebec) Perruvian on the 23rd May 1868 and arrived at Liverpool 2nd June and proceeded to Winchester

 

He was discharged on the 23rd June 1868 and awarded a pension of 2s 6d per annum
