William Swain ( On the Yeoman Warders wall it shows a Swaine) was a Yeoman Warder here at the Tower from 31 August 1837 replacing Richard East, to his death on the 2 March 1841, when he was replaced by Samuel Manners (27)
He was born 1792 in Witham, Essex, and enlisted into the Coldstream Guards, and reached the rank of Colour Sergeant on discharge
He had the following medals:
Waterloo (Although this is not shown on his arrival records)
Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (LS&GC awarded 29 March 1838)
He married an Esther Baker and they had 5 children:
