William May was a Yeoman Warder from the 25th February 1841 to his death 13th Dec 1841.
William was born in 1789, and enlisted into the Grenadier Guards 15th November 1815 at Derby aged 17.
Sergeant Major – Grenadier Guards.
He was promoted to Corporal in May 1818 but reverted to Private a year later. Re-promoted in Nov, 1819, Sergeant in 1824, Sergeant Major in 1834
Army Number No. 303.
He became a Yeoman Warder in 25th February 1841 (age 40) replacing Joseph Jackson, . However, he died that year 13th Dec 1841 at Alfreton, Derbyshire, and was replaced by Robert Robertson (No.28).
He had the following medalsMedals: The Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (LS&GC) awarded, in London on 18 June, 1841
In 1841, he is shown as living at the Tower of London with his wife, Diana, and two infant sons.
