George Gilborn was a Yeoman Warder here from 8th May 1836 (Aged 43), replacing James Riley, to his death on 3rd August 1860 (24 Years 8 Months), when he was replaced by John Dwane (73).
George Gilborn was born in 1793 in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, his father, Francis, was 38 (Born 1755 in Nottingham) and his mother, Mary nee Joyce was 34 (Born 1759 Nottingham). He married Susanna nee Morley (born 1786 d 9 April 1847) on 10 February 1820 in Westminster, Middlesex. He then married Elizabeth nee Thompson (born 1813 Marylebone) on 10 July 1850 in London, London.
George enlisted 1 May 1811 in to the 4th Foot. Wounded at New Orleans 1815, discharged, then on the 26 April 1818 enlisted in 1st Life Guards, then transferred to 3rd Foot. He transferred and was discharged on the 9 March 1836 as the Drum Major – Scots Fusilier Guards. Army No. 277.
